When the prices of gasoline reached its peak over the three dollar mark last year, it changed the landscape of the auto industry. With more and more consumers wary of an impending increase in the prices of gasoline, fuel efficient small cars are now in demand. This resulted to lesser sale of SUVs and other large cars.In this way, the price of gasoline changed the auto industry wherein car manufacturers are now focusing on the development of small cars which are commonly fuel efficient. There are still SUVs being introduced in the market for those who need the capability of these large cars for their lifestyle or business. There are also large trucks with hybrid versions which are aimed at those people who want a big car with good gas mileage. The first generation cars have split side windows which were not optimal in terms of sealing (wind noise and water management). The Aileron has single pane side glass that drops when the door is opened and closed, creating improved comfort level. The rear diffuser was redesigned for improved functionality. The redesigned rear lights are LED units. The outside mirrors were redesigned and the cone is mounted on two turbine fan blades, standard in body colour (but available in polished aluminum as an option).

world’s first pair of cars to run on algae

Outside the film I spoke with Harrison F. Dillon (CTO) and Jonathan S. Wolfson (CEO), founders of Solazyme, and they told me they’re already producing “thousands” of gallons of algae biodiesel, with potential to mass produce “in the next two years”.
If you’ve been following my posts on the GM Coskata ethanol announcement, I have one thing to say to you: the plot thickens.

Like any good photosynthetic organism, algae convert the sun’s energy into sugars, which then power the oil-producing process (algae can be over 50% oil). But getting the algae enough sunlight to grow efficiently has been a particular stumbling block to large scale algae production.
